At 1:38 AM, our department, TowerDirect and Friendship Fire Company Diving-Rescue Unit were alerted for a water rescue on the Schuylkill River at the Black Rock Boat Launch. During a routine patrol, Phoenixville Police spotted an SUV partially submerged in the river about 60' from the shoreline. The windows were closed and it was unknown if any occupants were in the vehicle. Utility 65-1 & Utility 65-2 each with a boat, Rescue 65 and MICU 65-1 responded to the incident. Upon arrival, crews deployed a boat to break the windows and inspect the vehicle’s interior. No occupants were in the vehicle. Friendship was recalled from the assignment and the MICU was released from the scene. Our department remained on location to assist Abel Brothers Towing and Automotive with removal of the vehicle. Our personnel cleared the scene after approximately two and a half hours. |
