At 6:55 PM, our department and first-alarm mutual aid companies were alerted for a house fire on the 200 block of Church Street. The caller reported smoke in the hallway.

Rescue, Ladder, Deputy, MICU, and Utility 65-2 responded to the incident. Assistant 61 and Rescue 65 arrived to find nothing evident from the exterior of the house. Crews investigated and found a haze of smoke and odor in the basement. The source was found to be a faulty clothes washer. Units which had not yet arrived on location were recalled. Power and water to the washer were secured.

Crews cleared the scene in just under a half hour.
