| At 2:06 AM, our department was alerted to an automatic fire alarm activation at Street Cart Bagels on Nutt Road at Lincoln Avenue. Additional callers reported smoke in the building, followed by flames from the roof. County communications upgraded the assignment to a building fire, adding our first-alarm mutual aid companies. The Chief, Deputy Chief, Rescue, Utility 65-1, Utility 65-2, and MICU 65-1 responded to the incident. Rescue 65 arrived on location, confirmed fire from the roof, and deployed a hand line to the roof to extinguish fire around a vent pipe. Ladder 63 was also assigned to the roof. Crews from Squad 5 and Montgomery Squad 68 stretched a hand line to the kitchen prep area and began opening the ceiling to extinguish the fire from the inside. The fire was placed under control within 15 minutes. The Chester County Health Department was notified of the fire due to this being a food service establishment. PECO's electric and natural gas divisions were notified, and the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported, and our crews cleared the scene after about two hours. During the above incident, smoke was reported in a townhouse in the Eland Downe Development. Utility 65-2 and mutual aid units responded to this incident. Utility 65-2 arrived on location to find contents in a microwave had caught fire, but the contents were now smoldering in a trash can. Firefighters moved the trash can outside and used snow to fully extinguish the fire. A positive-pressure fan was used to remove smoke from the townhouse. |
