Our department and numerous other agencies responded to a tough incident Monday where a young person lost their life on the Schuylkill River. There are a number of active or abandoned overpasses over the river between the Borough of Phoenixville and Upper Providence Township that many people jump off of for fun.

We recently cut down a rope swing further up river due to a past incident where someone fell in shallow water and injured themselves. The picture below was taken from a few weeks ago near the same area where we found a group of teenagers on an active train line getting ready to jump off the bridge.

Please, if you or someone you know jumps off these bridges - DO NOT risk it. This is especially true with the river running low due to lack of rainfall.
