At 5:48 PM, our department was alerted for Boat 65 to assist Upper Providence Township with a water rescue near Fitzwater Station. A group of individuals in the river were reported to be in distress and possibly drowning. Squad & Boat 65 reported to the closest boat ramp - located near Lock 60. Personnel launched Boat 65 and proceeded downriver towards the area of Fitzwater Station. UPT Fire & Emergency Services personnel on shore were able to make contact with the group to confirm there were no rescue or medical services required. The individuals walked out of the river and the incident was turned over to the police department.
