Evening House Fire in The Ledges

At 6:38 PM, our department and first-alarm mutual aid companies were alerted for a house fire on Bateman Drive in The Ledges development. The caller reported a fire on the second floor.

Based upon information prior to arrival, the officer of Engine 65-1 requested the Working Fire Dispatch (WFD) which adds an air cascade unit and an additional ambulance. Engine 65-1 arrived to find nothing showing from the front of the house. Upon entry at the front door, firefighters encountered a light smoke condition on the first floor. and a heavy smoke condition on the second floor. The source was found to be fire in a bedroom on the second floor. Two handlines were deployed and one placed in service. The fire was held to the room of origin and quickly extinguished.

Two residents were evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation and went to the hospital by private vehicle.

Chester County Fire Marshal's office investigated this incident and determined the fire to be accidental in nature.

The fire was declared under control after about 25 minutes. The last fire unit cleared the scene after about an hour and a half.

Lionville Fire Company transferred an engine to Phoenixville to assist with any additional emergencies while our personnel were operating at this fire.
