EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS)
As of January 1, 2023, the primary 9-1-1 emergency medical service (EMS) in the Borough of Phoenixville is provided by TowerDIRECT. TowerDIRECT operates a 'Phoenixville Division' based out of the Phoenixville Fire Department.
Two advanced life support ambulances are on duty 24x7 to handle emergencies. In the event subsequent calls are received when TowerDIRECT is unavailable, automatic mutual aid is received from neighboring agencies. The Phoenixville Fire Department is licensed as a Quick Response Service by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and regularly responds to EMS calls to render aid.
The Chester County Mass Casualty Bus, an asset of the Chester County EMS Taskforce, is also housed at the Phoenixville Fire Department. With the ability to be configured in multiple ways, it's not just your ordinary bus. It can swiftly adapt to accommodate wheelchairs or cots suspended from the roof to the floor. This flexibility ensures that it can effectively respond to a variety of emergency situations.
Questions regarding EMS can be directed to EMS Chief Brad Cosgrove via email at brad.cosgrove@towerhealth.org.
