At 11:37 PM Wednesday, our department and first-alarm mutual aid companies were alerted for a building fire at the Phoenix Village Apartments on Bridge Street. The caller reported smoke in the hallway of the first floor.

Deputy, Rescue, Ladder, Engine, and MICU 65-2 responded to the incident. Rescue 65 arrived to find a smoke condition in the hallway. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke upon having to force open the door of an apartment unit. The source of the smoke was found to be unattended cooking on the stovetop. Montco Squad 68 from UPT Fire & Emergency Services and Engine 68-1 from Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co. were held on-scene to assist. The remaining units dispatched on the assignment were recalled. The occupant of the apartment was evaluated by an ambulance crew from TowerDirect. A few positive pressure fans were used to clear smoke from the building.

The 100 block of Bridge Street was closed during the incident. Units cleared the scene after about 40 minutes.

Units: Deputy 65, Rescue 65, Ladder 65, Engine 65, MICU 65-2
