At 12:06 PM, our department and first-alarm mutual aid companies were alerted for a house fire in the Eland Downe development. The caller reported smoke coming from the front door and unknown if anyone was in the house.
Chief, Assistant, Engine, Ladder, and MICU 65-2 responded to the incident. Assistant 65 arrived to confirm smoke coming from the front door of an end unit in a townhouse row and requested a Working Fire Dispatch bringing additional resources. The first-arriving firefighter and Assistant Chief each used a fire extinguisher on the fire which was located in the kitchen. Upon the arrival of Engine 65, one hand line was deployed to fully extinguish the fire. Crews conducted searches and confirmed no occupants were inside. The ceiling and walls were opened to ensure the fire had not extended beyond visible areas and a positive pressure fan was used to clear smoke. Damage was contained to the unit where the fire originated and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Chester County Fire Marshal's Office but believed to be accidental. Our crews cleared the scene after about 90 minutes.
