At 5:39 AM, our department and first-alarm companies were alerted for a house fire on the 500 block of Bridge Street. The caller reported they saw flames across the street.
Chief, Deputy, Engine, Ladder, Rescue and MICU 65-1 responded to the incident. Due to multiple callers reporting the fire, the 9-1-1 communications center re-alerted the incident as a "working fire," which added a second ambulance and a rescue. Chief 65 also requested an additional engine be added. Crews arrived to find fire coming from the third floor of half a twin home. Three hand lines were placed in service to extinguish the fire. A small amount of fire extended into the neighboring unit.
One resident was treated on scene for minor burns.
The American Red Cross and Ann's Heart of Phoenixville are providing emergency housing & assistance for eight displaced residents. The fire was placed under control after about a half hour. The final units cleared the scene after about two hours. Chester County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
An engine from Lower Providence Fire Department was transferred to Phoenixville to assist with any additional emergencies while our personnel were operating at this fire.
Thank you to Phoenixville Police for ensuring the houses were evacuated prior to our arrival and providing traffic control with the assistance of special fire police. |
